James is a Bend Oregon based musician whose passion is creating powerful, expressive music in many genres for a host of local bands and various film projects. James’ primary influences are country, blues, jazz, and of course film scores of his favorite films.

James attended film school at Montana State University for a little over a year in 1992 and that experience created a deep interest in film scores and the power of music to enhance a scene.

Many small film projects simply plan on using stock music for a subtle addition to a mostly visual product. However, a custom score can augment the story and acting of your film to such a degree that it becomes a part of the story telling.

James Hutchens has a small personal studio in Bend, Oregon and extensive experience with many instruments, amps, and effects; enough to build a score for anything from gritty action to dream sequence.
